I’m just starting out golfing and I have a problem with my swing. Oftentimes I either hit the top of the ball or hit hte ground before I hit the ball…do you have any tips or pre-swing exercises to help this?

With me living in Wisconsin, winter is here for 6 or 7 months of the year which really sucks. I just picked up the game last summer but have caught on quick and broke 90 not too long ago. I want to keep my game sharp and maybe actually even see if I can improve on some things if that’s possible. Any tips or helpful drills that I could work on?
I live in a house where I can’t swing a club full or it will hit the ceiling. I’m guessing my basement is where I can work on putting or chipping or some sort of golf motion that I can commit to muscle memory. But what would be effective? How can I work on my putting and make the ball roll like almost a real green? Any good ways to practice chipping and making it feel and roll like the real thing? Thanks a lot!
I am freshman in high school. I couldn’t play golf this year because I injured my shoulder a week before try outs. I took lessons over the summer and was ready to go. I am fine now but I live in the midwest and I can’t really go to the driving range because of the weather. I could go to a heated/indoor range but I don’t want to go hit balls when I know my swing is messed up. I am going to start lessons in the spring with the same guy I had been taking them from. The high school coach knows me and how I play and told me he knows I will make varsity. Anyway, I know to practice and just do what I can on my part to improve. What else can I do?
Also, what would the chances of me being able to play college level be? It doesn’t matter if I get a scholarship or if I walk-on. I just want to play in college. I have been playing since I was 7 and that has been my dream since.

Yesterday I was at the range, and doing quite well in my opinion, then someone came up to me, and told me my swing was wrong, and told me plenty of things wrong with my swing and setup. I thought I was doing allright, as I was satisfied with my distance, hitting the ball straight and the ball flight was decent. I am a 15 handicap, and I have been golfing for a year and a half, so I know I dont have the perfect swing, and there is much to improve on. His advice, actually made me start to slice the ball, and when it wasnt working, he got quite offended when I pretty much told him “thanks but it doesnt work for me” he kind of curtly responded thats what his instructor taught him, and if I work on it iit will help me in the long run. But the advice mentally screwed me up, and I finished up the rest of the bucket mainly hacking, and am still upset about it today. So my question is, when people try to give you advice, is it rude to just flat out say no? Thanks.
