Genius at work. I wonder what ever happened to the note books he recorded his practice sessions on, wow I’d say they would be a great read, really get inside his head.
his left knee stays back relative to his left hip at the start of the downswing just a tad, & probably went a long way towards keeping him from ’spinning out’. i know when i manage to follow suit, i wind up with a much more solid finish.
Ok, Hogan had a problem with his right knee so he couldn’t rotate around it on his backswing. Watch his left hip on his back swing (post car accident) it moves slightly towards the target. I think Tiger does it also.
It’s a good song to go with the video since it’s calm and not uptempo similar to Hogans personality but any way i noticed he turns his hips towards the target slightly on his back swing. Is he the one who started this technique? Anyone know?
hey, thanks for putting this up, great GREAT swing but…. can i just slightly disagree with the last comment, accompanied by perhaps the WORST song ever written ever ever erver erver ever ever ever ever erver… you get the idea )
I know Hogan was great and he had an awesome swing but I don’t think most golfers should try to emulate him because very few humans have the type of flexibility to get into the positions he was able to. Guys like him and Sergio Garcia are able to create a tremendous amount of lag but look at much their wrists hinge on the downswing! His principles are right on but I think most people would be better off finding a pro with their own body type to take after.
Early in his career he wanted to quit golfing several times because he wasn’t providing for his family like he thought he should. His wife, knowing he would never be happy doing anything else, urged him to keep playing. Imagine that….No one will ever swing like him again, and no one will ever have a wife who says get out there and go golfing again either. Think your swing and your wifes attitude are not connected? Think again.

Hey Pilcher, mix it with Kings of Leon, notion. It’s a little more upbeat and it’s the perfect length.

Do you mean at the start of the swing (as a forward press), at the start of the downswing, what?

great swing and video , what’s with using one of the best songs ever written that has nothing to do with golf?

Lag isnt that hard to maintain, if you understood his swing. And some of the angles and positions are illusions from camera angles. ;_;
