On short putts, you have to get the mindset that “I don’t care if it goes in” . Understand that they don’t all go in. On long putts, play as much break as possible and lag it up there. If it doesn’t go in it will turn and trickle towards hole as it slows. Any putt hit low keeps going further from the hole at the end.
The secret is to practice! Everyone has a different putting stroke you must find one that fits you and feels the most comfortable. The key to becoming a good putter is to not to not be nervous it is just to perform when you have that nervous tension. Here is a great exercise to master this. Get 5 golf balls and put them 3 feet away from the hole. Try to make 50 putts in a row maybe even 100. when you get to the last 5 putts you will be extremely nervous. This is a good way to practice putting while being nervous it also helps you build a consistent putting stroke. GOOD LUCK!
