This is a side-by-side swing analysis of Tiger Woods and Ben Hogan that I did recently (I am professional golf instructor). On the rare occasion when Tiger Woods is not playing well in a tournament, it seems that the television golf announcers are always quick to point out what they perceive to be a major flaw in Tiger’s swing. In this Tiger vs Hogan swing analysis this myth is not only dispelled but I actually go on to show how the “flaw” is actually a positive attribute possessed by many of the greatest players, including Ben Hogan. (Golf swing analysis video by Wayne DeFrancesco).

Biggest difference is the top of the back swing, hogan’s was ideal, tiger’s is laid off with a supinated left wrist.. His swing was much better in 2000.. Why fix what’s not broke and wins you a bunch of majors… Hogan’s plane was more in a cirle and more consistent, that’s why Tiger is having problems off the tee.. Thanx Hank.. : )

One of the biggest differences with Tiger is that he does not brace his neck the way that Hogan did. This lordosis of the cervial spine can only put a strain on his neck given his technique, which you describe. I think it is important to move “UP,” and not down, into the address position for good posture.
